about

Another collaborative effort between Clas Lundkvist and myself. This song began as an instrumental entitled, "Night is a Plant," recorded at Ramtitam Studio in Stockholm, Sweden. I rearranged the music to make it vocal friendly, wrote lyrics and recorded the vocals in my home studio, Magic Cat, in Edmond, Oklahoma.

I was thinking of all the friends I've lost when I wrote these words. Musicians and otherwise. It all ends too soon anyway so please make the most of the time you have -- and thank you for spending a little of yours with me.

lyrics

James was higher than a kite when he drifted off to sleep.
All of us could only guess what song he had to dream.
And the planets turned while the heavens burned a hook into his brain.
Hauntingly familiar like a ghost had taken the stage.

(Chorus)
Hey won't you play like you've only got today to get that rockin' rhythm down on the song that you'd just started

A hush falls on the stadium and someone says to me: "James would have owned this place if he'd only lived to see."
And the fireworks and the feedback threw shadows on the screen.
And with the first riff of the encore the crowd began to sing

(Chorus)
Hey won't you play like you've only got today to put that rockin' rhythm down on the song that you'd just started

Hauntingly familiar you just can't seem to place that tune.
But now it's comin' to you.

(Instrumental Break)

So warm regards and jazz guitars to the ones who changed the scene
I'm betting all my concert cash on the show that's yet to be
You can hear the chords streamin' out the boards on every channel Z
From New York to Hollywood and all points in between

(Chorus)
Hey won't you play like you've only got today to get that rockin' rhythm down on the song that you'd just started

Hauntingly familiar you just can't seem to place that tune.
But it will come to you.
